Keyboard Options

This dialog changes the default keyboard shortcuts for commands.

The data displayed may be ordered by clicking at the top of each column.

To change or create a new short-cut, click on the Keystroke Converter box and type the key combination you wish to use. The correct character sequence is automatically loaded into the clipboard. Double click on the Shortcut column of the relevant item. Insert the new text. If multiple shortcuts are used, separate them with a semi-colon. Geeqie must be restarted for the new code to be registered.

Commands preceded by "app." are available in all windows. Commands preceded by "win." are available only in the relevant window. Commands preceded by "bookmark." apply to the focused bookmark or destination list.

Image-panning commands are listed separately for the Main Window, Image View Window, and Pan View Window. Their shortcuts work only while the image view has focus, so arrows still navigate lists and edit text elsewhere. A matching view-specific shortcut takes precedence over an application or window shortcut while that view has focus. For example, Ctrl+Shift+Left and Ctrl+Shift+Right pan all split images to an edge when the image has focus, and navigate folders elsewhere. These shared bindings are not reported as conflicts. Clear a command's shortcut to disable its key binding.

The Pan View also has commands to pan half a viewport in each direction. The Log Window command Run command on selected log text uses F1 by default and works while the log text has focus.

Bindings are stored in ~/.config/geeqie/accels.ini. For example, to use F8 instead of Right for normal rightward panning in the main image pane:

[win.main-win-pan-right]
accels=F8

Toggle hamburger menu uses F10 by default when the hamburger menu is enabled, including when it is attached to the floating tools window. Clearing its shortcut disables this binding.

The Move bookmark or destination up and Move bookmark or destination down commands use Shift+Up and Shift+Down by default. They work only while a bookmark or Sort Manager destination button has focus, and apply to folder and collection destinations as well as bookmarks in file choosers. Their bindings are stored as bookmark.move-up and bookmark.move-down.

A text search may be made in any of the columns. Click anywhere in a column and type characters. The search is case-insensitive
